Reason for selection:
“Gran Green Osaka” is the main item of the redevelopment project of the area where Umeda Cargo Station was located and for the roofs of its cafe´, information space, event space and spiral stairs,”Perfect Roof” made of SUS443J1, a high- purity ferritic stainless steel, has been adopted. This type has superb corrosion resistance, durability and cost performance
The designing of the roof was undertaken by SANAA (Sejima and Nishizawa Associates), a Pritzker Architecture Prize winner, and the designing of the spiral stairs was undertaken by Nikken Sekkei. The above stainless type also has excellent processability and can be formed into curvy and complicated shapes, faithfully reflecting the designers’ intents.
The use of SUS443J1 has satisfied both functionality and designability of the project, and realized the sustainable urban redevelopment contributing to the society.
