Reason for selection:
Kurokiri Stadium is an athletic field built on a hill at the edge of the MIyakonojyo Basin and features a huge roof that harmonizes well with the undulating topography of the area. In order to achieve the roof configuration of three-dimensional oval sphere, R-T technique to seam-weld stainless steel sheets into one single piece of roof has been adopted.
With Mt. Shinmoe, a volcano, located nearby, stainless steel has been adopted with its weathering properties to cope with possible falling of volcanic ash.
The Stadium is scheduled to be the main venue for the National Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival for Handicapped People in 2027, and the use of stainless steel for this facility attracting much attention is expected to make a great contribution to expanding stainless demand in the future.
