Award winner
Monument and Wall Panel of Tokuyama Deck

 Applicant: Tokuyama Kosan Co., Ltd.
Reason for selection:
To commemorate the completion of the urban redevelopment project of the area surrounding Tokuyama Station, the applicant and two other stainless steel-related companies operating in Shunan City, produced and presented the Monument and the Wall Panel of “Tokuyama Deck”.
Tokuyama is a coastal area susceptible to salt damage, and due consideration was given to this point in selecting super-stainless NSSC270 as the material of the monument, which is required to maintain aesthetic appearance.
Through the vibration polishing technique of Taika Kogyou as well as welding and forming techniques of Tokuyama Kosan, NSSC270 was processed into the complicate-shaped monument.
It is placed as a symbol of the redevelopment project and expected to boost the image of stainless steel. Commonly, such steel types as SUS304 and SUS316 are used for outdoor applications. However, the difficulties in welding and forming NSSC 270 have been overcome by the above-mentioned companies, enabling them to introduce the complicate-shaped monument and the wall panel of this type. The adoption will work to expand the areas of application of super stainless steel in the future.
Stainless steel types used: NSSC270, equivalent to SUS312L

Consumption: 3,500kg

Presenter: Nippon Steel Corporation
