Award winner
Injector for Gasoline Direct Injection Engine

 Applicant: Astemo, Ltd.
Reason for selection:
Currently, GDI Engine (Gasoline Direct Injection Engine) is the mainstream combustion system of automobiles as a means to save fuel costs for environmental protection.
In the GDI engine system, the pressure of fuel supplied from the gasoline tank is raised with a high-pressure fuel pump and delivered to the injector and this pressure-raising is the key technology to slash fuel costs.
In order to respond to the needs for raising the fuel pressure, the applicant has succeeded in developing a high-rigidity injector through integral molding (reduction of welding points) of ferritic stainless steel that can withstand the high pressure, and has launched the product to the market.
The high-rigidity injector commercialized through properly processing the proper type of stainless steel will make a great contribution to reducing global environmental burdens.

Stainless steel types used: SUS430J1L(NSSC180)

Consumption: 19.62g/piece
